I am proud of where the City of Bridgetown Co-operative Credit Union Ltd (COB) stands today and excited about our future in local and regional financial services. Our performance in 2013 was sound despite a challenging environment. The key performance areas of our operations grew and we made good progress in executing our long-term strategy and delivering on our promises to our members.

According to the Central Bank of Barbados, real economic growth for Barbados in 2013 is forecast at 0.7%. This projection is based on the most recent IMF forecast of average growth of 1.7% for Barbados’ major trading partners (the US, UK & Canada), as well as an improvement in consumer expenditure in these markets of 1.2%. In addition, private capital inflows of $600 million are anticipated for activity in the tourism and construction sectors.

No significant gain in employment is expected.

As the City of Bridgetown Co-operative Credit Union stands on the cusp of its thirtieth anniversary we do so with pride, we do so with dignity, basking in a legacy of hard work and accomplishment. We now stand on the shoulders of the giants of the past, former committee members, staff members and volunteers who gave of themselves tirelessly in the pursuit of a dream that is now our reality.
